*Structure: Nylon 6 is polycaprolactam, and Nylon 66 is polyhexamethylene adipate. Nylon 66 is 12% harder than nylon 6. In theory, the higher the stiffness, the more brittle the fiber is and the easier it is to break. But in the use of rugs, this tiny difference is indistinguishable.
* Cleanability and stain repellency: These two properties are affected by the cross-sectional shape of the fibers and the subsequent stain repellency treatment. The strength and hardness of the fibers themselves have little effect on cleaning and antifouling.
* Melting point and elasticity: The melting point of nylon 6 is 220C, and the melting point of nylon 66 is 260C. But this has nothing to do with the temperature conditions in which the carpet is used. The lower melting point enables nylon 6 to have better resilience, fatigue resistance and thermal stability than nylon 66 materials.
*Color fastness: Color fastness is not a property of nylon, the dye of Colored Nylon6 Yarn, not nylon itself, will fade in light.
* Wear-resistant and dust-resistant: Clemson University conducted a two-and-a-half-year experiment on BASF Zeftron500 nylon 6 carpet and DuPont Antron XL nylon 66 carpet at Tampa International Airport. The carpet was subjected to extremely high foot traffic, and the results showed that BASF's Zeftron 500 nylon was slightly better than DuPont Antron XL in terms of color retention and pile abrasion resistance. There was no difference in dust resistance between the two yarns.
