Nylon 66 is Polyamide Nylon 66, also called PA6. Nylon 6 has properties much like Nylon 66, with a lower melting point and a wide process temperature range. Its impact resistance and dissolution resistance are better than nylon 66 plastic, and its hygroscopicity is stronger.
The quality characteristics of plastic parts are basically related to hygroscopicity, so this must be taken into account when designing products with nylon 6. Different modifiers can be added to improve the mechanical properties of nylon 6. It is often used to add glass fiber to improve the performance of nylon 6, and to improve impact resistance, synthetic rubber can be optionally added. If the product of nylon 6 does not add additives, its plastic raw material shrinkage rate is about 1.5%. If you want to reduce the shrinkage to about 0.3%, you can add glass fiber additives. The shrinkage rate is mainly affected by the hygroscopicity and the crystallinity of the material. In fact, plastic part design, wall thickness, and process parameters can also affect the shrinkage rate.
Nylon 6 injection drying treatment must pay attention to the strong water absorption of nylon 6. If the material is found to be packaged with waterproof material before processing, the container must be kept tightly closed. If the humidity is found to be greater than 0.2% before processing, it is recommended to dry in hot air. If the material is found to have been exposed to air prior to processing, vacuum drying is recommended.
